DISNEYLAND 2022

A day to remember

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating one of the children’s close friends birthday at one of the coolest places in the world- Disneyland Shanghai.

I recall when we we came here literally the month it first opened in 2016, it felt like it we were the honorary guests- we may have been one of a handful of interested guests to visit the park in the first days of new park being built in. Now it’s a regular attraction and an extremely popular tourist destination from within and outside of mainland China.

Living in Shanghai means we have the magical world of Disneyland on our very doorstep.

It has it’s own subway station, therefore simplifying the journey from anywhere in Shanghai for less than the cost of a chocolate bar!

I have never been to Disneyland Paris or Orlando, so I haven’t got anything directly to compare my experience to Disneyland Shanghai with. I can imagine each park will have its on flavour, thereby all will leave you with a little aftertaste of the city. This is certainly the case Disneyland Shanghai- which is the only Disneyland on mainland China (yes, for more than one billion people and counting!).

GETTING FAMILIAR WITH CLUB 33

Party fun

Now heading back to the focus of the article (lol)- we were invited as being part of Club 33 to a kids birthday party. This meant VIo entry- no queues and a meter and greater who direct our excited bundles of joy towards the Club 33 restaurant which is a little walk through Disney Town.

Disney town is buzzing with visitors everyday- you can come here without going to the park- enjoying the restaurants and the Disney character themes with the enthusiasm of the crowd.

It’s winter so a little cool in Shanghai, but today the sun shone and warmed up our hands in preparation for a good afternoon and evening .

We enter Club 33 and we’re in awe of the beautiful decorations and we’re warmly welcomed by the celebrant and hee family. Champagne in hand, and drinks for the kids in the other, we were able to relax for a short time before more laughter and celebrations filled the air as more people arrived.

We sat down to a wonderful buffet meal of a selection of meat, seafood, western and Chinese style options.

The children of course want to only feast on the chocolate fountain as the cover everything and anything in chocolate – even the watermelon slices I was trying to get them to eat/ of course I gave up knowing that is the whole point of the party! To have fun!

After the meal, there were scheduled visits From the Disney party characters who came to ‘say’ hello and allow us to take pictures with them- I’m not sure who was more happy- the parents or the kids!

Later in the evening we were able to relax and mingle with other families. The evening drew on and by 9pm it was time to don the coats and watch the beautiful firework display from the balcony which mesmerized us all for at least 30 minutes.

We all went back to play and let’s just say we didn’t get home until midnight.

The next day we all reminisced vividly about the previous nights excitement. What kid doesn’t want to have a party at Disneyland? Certainly a place if magic and colourful imagination!
